Provincial Nominee Programs

For applicants whose experience and settlement plans align with a province.

By Patrick Leong · R506679 · Reviewed 11 October 2026

What is the Provincial Nominee Program?

Participating provinces and territories nominate applicants who meet their economic needs and intend to settle there. Quebec has its own immigration programs, and Nunavut does not have a PNP.

Are all provincial streams the same?

No. Eligibility, occupations, employer requirements and intake vary by province and stream. There are Express Entry and non-Express Entry routes; a stream may change or pause its intake.

How does nomination affect Express Entry?

An accepted Express Entry nomination adds 600 CRS points. You must still meet the applicable program requirements and complete the federal permanent residence process.

What should we review?

Your intended province, occupation, employer or job offer, ties to the province, language results and the current intake rules for the specific stream.
